THIRD GRADE WEEKLY SCHEDULE 

February 21 – February 24, 2012

MATH – This week we are finishing unit 8 with an exploration of equivalent fractions and fractions that are greater than one (improper and mixed number).  We will take the unit 8 test next Tuesday.

 

DOL – This week we will be learning facts about our 1st president, George Washington, born on February 22, 1732.

 

TIMED MATH PRACTICE – This week reviews all previously learned facts (0 X 0 through 9 X 9).  Today and Wednesday we will practice, and then Friday we will take our timed test.

 

READING/LANGUAGE ARTS – Our story this week is Kids Did it in Business! by Judith Rinard.  We will take our Comprehension test on Friday.  Also, in Language Arts we will be discussing adjectives.  The quiz will be next Thursday.

 

SPELLING – Our Spelling list this week contains contractions (they’ll, won’t).  Our pre-test is Thursday and our final test is Friday.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES – Today we finished chapter 5, so we will be making our study cards tomorrow.  The chapter 5 test will b next Tuesday.

 

SCIENCE – This week we will be discussing the ways of classifying animals.

 

REMINDERS

  • Make sure to check and sign your child’s agenda every night.
  • Reading, Spelling, and timed multiplication tests are Friday.
  • A permission slip was sent home today for a field trip next Monday.  Our class and the second grade will be going to the Franklin Institute for the new dinosaur exhibit.  Students will need a brown-bagged lunch.
  • February book reports are due next Wednesday and the reading logs are due next Thursday, March 1st.
